Black Iris
Black Iris
Black Iris

Black iris, bringing black peace;

What peace shall I have, now that she is gone?

Blot out all the colours of the rainbow,

Tell the dove to silence its song.

━━━━━━━━┓ ✠ ┏━━━━━━━━

Black anemones, what is your gift?

Memories – only dreamt – never coming to pass,

An airless wind that whispers your name,

And a dumb mind that plays tricks.

━━━━━━━━┓ ✠ ┏━━━━━━━━

Black rose, with your death-scent;

The cruellest heart of them all.

Tell me, how is your dark beauty supposed to cheer,

When grief has smothered me in his pall?

━━━━━━━━┓ ✠ ┏━━━━━━━━

Enough of this muted sorrow; I throw the vase against the wall.
